Cookie Policy
Last updated 10 October 2026
A cookie is a small file a website stores in your browser. The Gift Guide uses as few as possible.
The cookies we use
All three are strictly necessary: without them you couldnât stay signed in or see your own gifts. Theyâre first-party, meaning only The Gift Guide can read them. They canât be read by the pageâs scripts, and we donât use them to track you anywhere else.
| Cookie | What itâs for | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
wl_token | Keeps you signed in. A short-lived sign-in token. | 15 minutes, then renewed |
wl_refresh | Renews your sign-in so you arenât signed out every 15 minutes. | 60 days |
wl_guest_claims | Remembers gifts you claimed or gave without an account, so the list shows them as yours. | 90 days |
What we donât use
No advertising cookies, no analytics or tracking cookies, and no social-media pixels. Because everything we set is strictly necessary, we donât need to ask for consent, and so you wonât see a cookie banner.
Other storage
If you give a gift without an account, we remember the name and email address you used in your browserâs storage on that device, so you donât have to type them again next time. It never leaves your device unless you give again. Tap âNot you?â when giving to forget it.
If you install The Gift Guide on your phoneâs home screen, your browser keeps a copy of a single âyouâre offlineâ page so it can show it without a connection. It contains no personal information.
Cookies on shopsâ websites
When you follow a link to a shop, the shop and any affiliate network involved may set their own cookies. Thatâs how they know a purchase came from The Gift Guide (see our disclosures). Those cookies are set on their websites, under their own policies.
Controlling cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browserâs settings. If you block ours, you wonât be able to stay signed in. Signing out deletes the sign-in cookies.
